SPHS Book Fair By Isabella Ocasio Every year, SPHS and STC come together with Barnes and Noble to have students and teachers present their accomplishments made within the school year. By doing so, the community – middle schoolers who wish to attend SPHS, parents of students, and other Sarasota folk – can inquire & appreciate the amazing talents of our school's students.
Mr. Bellón and Mrs. Geisel oversee the book fair each year. The money received through the event is used to purchase more books for the school and media center. Technically, money is still being collected and will be until the 19th of December.
According to Mr. Bellón, more students than ever before had signed up to volunteer. This may be thanks to the new freshmen and sophomore AGS teacher, Ms. Plowman. The young volunteers displayed their capabilities in many ways, including beautiful live art demos, talented singing and playing instruments, unique dancing, demonstrating robots they’ve made in TSA, and presenting both physical and digital games made in AGS.
There was even free hot chocolate and cheesecake samples, and all volunteers were given an elf or Santa hat to wear. How does it get any more festive and fun than that? Overall, the organization, presentation, and talents of the students impressed parents and other visitors.
