The superintendent of Sarasota County Schools is Dr. Todd Bowden. He was born and raised in Florida, and has a wife and two children in the Sarasota schools. Bowden was the executive director of career, technical and adult education before given the position of superintendent on March 1, 2017, following Lori White. Some of his goals include to focus on "maintaining our tradition of excellence" in the school district as far as grades and recognition, to provide resources to the teachers and students in order for them to met their full potential, and lastly, to increase the graduation rate and the amount of students that are ready for college and their future career.
Superintendent Forum By Lily Tudor
The Superintendent Forum was an event held at the STC Conference Center with students from all Sarasota County high schools. Students got to talk with a professional about activities and events they see going on in their different schools. Using topics from Innovative Instruction to Social Media Use to Extra Curricular Activities, professionals got to really see what students think about the school system and related subjects. The superintendent of Sarasota County schools was there as well to answer our questions and hear some of the reports straight from the students. He says that the forum is really a forum for students, "This should be called the Student Forum, not the Superintendent Forum".
